In Spite of a Nail: The United Kingdom and France can still wind up in the same faction if they both go communist, since the UK can invite France and the Benelux countries to it's faction if it creates an alternative to the Com Intern.Difficult, but Awesome: Generally the democracies start with the "Great Depression" and cannot justify wars as easily or build up armies as fast, but if played correctly a democratic power will have a large industrial base combined with a powerful research branch by mid game.
